Description

18 holes - 6,043 yards - SSS 72

Situated under the shadow of the famous Benbulben Mountain, the County Sligo Golf Club, or Rosses Point as it is more popularly known, founded in 1894, is one of Irelands great championship links.

While Royal County Down is acknowledged as having the best front nine in Ireland and Ballybunion the finest back nine, many believe that Rosses Point offers the finest 18 holes in the country. One of the most scenic holes on the course is the par four second hole which offers a panoramic view from the green that is as vast as it is sensational. The tenth and eleventh holes, offer excellent views of the great Benbulben Mountain, and are two excellent par fours.

The par four fourteenth, measuring some 430 yards from the championship stakes, is Tom Watson's favourite and is an extremely testing hole, which when the wind is blowing is almost a par five. Over the year's legendary players such as Walter Hagen, Bobby Locke, Henry Cotton, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo and Darren Clarke have made the pilgrimage to this classic course. A must play course suitable for all golfers!
