The
Jack Nicklaus designed Mount Juliet is among the finest parkland
courses in Ireland. Due to the quality of the course, Mount
Juliet quickly gained an International reputation by hosting
three successive Irish Opens from 1993 to 1996 and the WGC
American Express Championship in 2002, a fitting reward for
a fantastic golf course. Recently the decision to return to
Mount Juliet for the World Championships in 2004 has been
decided. A prize fund of 7 million dollars has attracted 7
of the world's top 10 golfers.
Mount
Juliet which lies within a 1500acre walled estate of woodland
and rolling green landscapes running alongside the River Nore,
is known as the "Augusta of Europe".
Combine this with a tranquil setting in a secluded country
estate and a series of other leisure facilities and Mount
Juliet is undeniably one of the finest resorts in Europe.
Jack Nicklaus summed it up best when he commented: "Mount
Juliet is such a magnificent setting for a golf course; I
feel proud of the layout and my work here. "
