Dromoland
Golf & Country Club is set within the 360 acre estate
of Dromoland Castle. The course is laid out around an estate
of rich woodland with a huge natural lake, and offers extensive
views of the beautifully restored Dromoland Castle. The River
Shannon adds to the challenge offered by the golf course,
while the River Rine also gently meanders its way through
the estate. Though relatively short, there are plenty of features
such as rolling hills, centuries old trees and water hazards,
which will test golfing prowess to the limit.
In
recent years, Dromoland has been the home of the "Whyte
and McKay Pro Celebrity Golf Tournament". During this time,
such noted players as Gary Player, Sandy Lyle, Sam Torrance
and Hale Irwin have all played the course and were united in
their high praise of the course layout and challenge.
