Ceann
Sibeal, or Dingle Golf Club as it's also known must be the
best kept golfing secret in Kerry. Each hole on this magnificient
links is carved from the natural landscape of one of the most
remote and unspoiled parts of Europe. The course layout is
links, but not in the same mountainous and sand dune sense
as Ballybunion, instead it is full of tricky undulations and
swales, and a winding "burn" that twists and turns
throughout the entire course.
As
you play, the whole panorama of the Dingle Peninsula is revealed
- hidden bays with small fishing villages, glorious hills
and mountains and the Blasket Islands out in the wild Atlantic.
This area abounds in archaeological treasures wild flora and
fauna, arts and crafts and ancient Gaelic culture. The Irish
language is still spoken here. Ceann Sibeal is the most westerly
course in Europe, the closest golf course to the distant shores
of America.
